REXROTH solenoid valves, also known as German Rexroth solenoid valves, are typically used with single-acting pneumatic actuators. Two-position valves have two controllable positions: open and closed. Three-position valves have three air passages; generally, one passage connects to the air source, and the other two passages connect to the actuator's air inlet and exhaust port, respectively. Two-position 5-way solenoid valves are typically used with double-acting pneumatic actuators. "Two-position" means two controllable positions: open and closed. "5-way" means five air passages: one connected to the air source, two connected to the inlet/outlet of the external air chamber of the double-acting cylinder, and two connected to the inlet/outlet of the internal air chamber. In terms of the air (or hydraulic) circuit, a two-position 3-way solenoid valve has one air inlet (connected to the air source), one air outlet (providing air to the target equipment), and one exhaust port (usually equipped with a silencer, but optional if noise is not a concern). A two-position 5-way solenoid valve has one air inlet (connected to the air source), one forward-acting exhaust port and one reverse-acting exhaust port (providing air to the target equipment for one forward and one reverse action respectively), one forward-acting exhaust port and one reverse-acting exhaust port (equipped with a silencer).

For small automatic control equipment, 8-12mm industrial rubber tubing is generally used. Electrically speaking, two-position three-way solenoid valves are generally single-coil controlled (i.e., single-coil), while two-position five-way solenoid valves are generally double-coil controlled (i.e., double-coil). Coil voltage ratings typically use DC24V or AC220V. Two-position three-way solenoid valves are divided into normally closed and normally open types. A normally closed type means the air path is closed when the coil is not energized, while a normally open type means the air path is open when the coil is not energized. The operating principle of a normally closed two-position three-way Rexroth solenoid valve: energizing the coil connects the air path; de-energizing the coil disconnects the air path, which is equivalent to "jogging". The operating principle of a normally open two-position three-way single-coil solenoid valve: energizing the coil disconnects the air path; de-energizing the coil reconnects the air path, which is also "jogging". The operating principle of a two-position five-way dual-electric solenoid valve is as follows: When the positive coil is energized, the positive air path is connected (air flows through the positive air outlet). Even after the positive coil is de-energized, the positive air path remains connected until the negative coil is energized. Similarly, when the negative coil is energized, the negative air path is connected (air flows through the negative air outlet). Even after the negative coil is de-energized, the negative air path remains connected until the positive coil is energized. This is equivalent to "self-locking." Based on this characteristic of the two-position five-way dual-electric solenoid valve, when designing electromechanical control circuits or programming PLCs, the solenoid valve coil can be allowed to operate for only 1-2 seconds, thus protecting it from damage.

REXROTH solenoid valves, also known as Rexroth solenoid valves, are used in hydraulic systems to control the opening and closing of fluid paths or change the direction of fluid flow. They typically have a valve core that slides under the electromagnetic force of a coil. The valve path changes depending on the position of the valve core. The number of working positions of the valve core determines the variability of the solenoid valve's designation. The number of ports on the valve body, or the number of passages, determines the solenoid valve's port number. After installation, all ports should generally be connected. The "working position" refers to the position of the valve core. The valve core is in position A when the coil is not energized and in position B when the coil is energized.
