Working Principle of Rexroth Swashplate Axial Piston Pumps

Rexroth axial piston pumps offer various variable displacement configurations to meet user requirements. They are widely used in machine tools, forging, metallurgy, engineering, mining, shipbuilding, and other machinery and hydraulic transmission systems.

Working Principle of Rexroth Swashplate Axial Piston Pumps

The pistons in an axial piston pump are arranged axially. When the cylinder axis and drive shaft axis coincide, it is called a swashplate axial piston pump; when the cylinder axis and drive shaft axis are not on a straight line and form an angle γ, it is called a swashplate axial piston pump. Axial piston pumps have advantages such as compact structure, high working pressure, and easy variable displacement. When drive shaft 1 rotates under the drive of the motor, connecting rod 2 pushes plunger 4 to reciprocate in cylinder 3. Simultaneously, the side of the connecting rod drives the piston to rotate along with the cylinder. The distributor plate 5 remains stationary. If the size and direction of the angle γ can be adjusted, it means that the pump's displacement and suction/pressure direction can be changed; in this case, the pump is a bidirectional variable displacement axial piston pump.

Rexroth Axial Piston Pump Assembly and Disassembly

1. Assemble the drive shaft assembly. Install the two small bearings and inner and outer spacers on the drive shaft journal and lock them securely with elastic retaining rings;

2. Assemble the drive shaft and pump body. After checking the pump body end face, especially the flatness and roughness of the end face mating with the distributor plate, install the drive shaft assembly into the pump body hole. The shaft should rotate with a runout of no more than 0.03 mm on the pump body's inner end face. Then, install the oil seal cap (round flange) on the pump body's outer end face;

3. Connect the pump body and pump casing. 1. Position the pump body vertically with the extended end of the drive shaft facing downwards, and secure it with high pads.

2. When connecting the pump body and pump housing with screws, ensure the integrity of both large and small seals, especially the small seal at the pressure control oil passage interface;

3. Install the roller bearings. Ensure the bearings are evenly stressed;

4. Install the distributor plate. Ensure the distributor plate is level. You can test this by gently tapping it with a thin copper rod (dropped vertically from a certain distance); the sound should be crisp;

5. Install the cylinder block. For cylinders 160mm and larger, use lifting screws;

6. Place the outer sleeve, center spring, inner sleeve, and steel balls in sequence;
