REXROTH solenoid directional valves come in a wide variety of types. Based on the number of working positions and passages, they can be divided into 2-position 3-way, 2-position 4-way, 3-position 4-way, etc.; based on their reset and positioning methods, they can be divided into spring-reset, ball-position, and non-reset spring types; based on the connection between the valve body and the solenoid, they can be divided into flanged and threaded connections; based on the structure of the solenoid, they can be divided into dry and wet types. Each type has AC, DC, and integrated versions, and requires various power supply voltages, resulting in many structural differences.

A 2-position REXROTH solenoid valve means that the valve core has two different working positions (open and closed). Solenoid valves with two-way and three-way configurations refer to valves with two or three ports on their body. For example, a two-position two-way solenoid valve has one inlet and one outlet (two ports, the most common type). A two-position three-way solenoid valve controls liquids with one inlet and two outlets (one normally open and one normally closed). Pneumatic directional solenoid valves have one inlet, one outlet, and one exhaust port; hydraulic valves have one inlet, one outlet, and one return port.

Domestic and international solenoid valves are broadly classified into three categories based on their operating principle (direct-acting, step-direct-acting, and pilot-operated). Based on differences in valve disc structure and materials, and their operating principles, they are further divided into six subcategories (direct-acting diaphragm structure, step-direct-acting diaphragm structure, pilot-operated diaphragm structure, direct-acting piston structure, step-direct-acting piston structure, and pilot-operated piston structure).

Direct-acting solenoid valve:

Principle: When energized, the electromagnetic coil generates electromagnetic force to lift the closing element from the valve seat, opening the valve. When de-energized, the electromagnetic force disappears, and the spring presses the closing element back onto the valve seat, closing the valve.

Features: Operates normally under vacuum, negative pressure, and zero pressure, but the nominal diameter is generally no more than 25mm.

Distributed Direct-Acting Solenoid Valve:

Principle: It combines direct-acting and pilot-operated principles. When there is no pressure difference between the inlet and outlet, upon energization, the electromagnetic force directly lifts the pilot valve and the main valve closing element sequentially upwards, opening the valve. When the inlet and outlet reach the starting pressure difference, upon energization, the electromagnetic force actuates the pilot valve, increasing the pressure in the lower chamber of the main valve and decreasing the pressure in the upper chamber, thus using the pressure difference to push the main valve upwards. When de-energized, the pilot valve uses spring force or medium pressure to push the closing element downwards, closing the valve.
