In this type of pressure-reducing valve, the German company HAWE uses a double diaphragm instead of the piston found in internally operated pressure-reducing valves. This increased diaphragm area allows for a larger main valve opening, resulting in a larger capacity than internally operated piston pressure-reducing valves for the same pipe size. Furthermore, the diaphragm is more sensitive to pressure changes, achieving an accuracy of +/-1%. This higher accuracy is due to the positioning of the downstream sensing line (outside the valve), where there is less gas or liquid turbulence.

The German HAWE pressure reducing valve reduces the inlet pressure to a desired outlet pressure through regulation, and automatically maintains a stable outlet pressure by relying on the energy of the medium itself. From a fluid mechanics perspective, the pressure reducing valve is a throttling element with variable local resistance. That is, by changing the throttling area, the flow velocity and kinetic energy of the fluid are altered, resulting in different pressure losses, thereby achieving pressure reduction. Then, through the regulation of the control and adjustment system, the fluctuation of the downstream pressure is balanced with the spring force, keeping the downstream pressure constant within a certain error range.

The German HAWE pressure reducing valve is an accessory of a pneumatic control valve. Its main function is to reduce and stabilize the pressure of the air source to a fixed value, so that the control valve can obtain a stable air source for regulation and control. According to the structural form, it can be divided into diaphragm type, spring diaphragm type, piston type, lever type, and bellows type; according to the number of valve seats, it can be divided into single-seat type and double-seat type; according to the position of the valve disc, it can be divided into direct-acting type and reverse-acting type. Pressure Adjustment Range
This refers to the adjustable range of the pressure regulator's output pressure P2, within which specified accuracy must be achieved. The pressure adjustment range is mainly related to the stiffness of the adjusting spring.
Due to its function, the leakage flow of the HAWE PDM series proportional pressure regulating valve must be introduced into the oil tank without pressure through the L port. Reverse flow is approximately 50% of the maximum flow. For larger flow rates, a bypass check valve can be considered. When the secondary pressure exceeds the set value due to external forces, valves of specifications 11 and 21/22 have an overload balancing function (pressure relief valve function).

The HAWE PDM series proportional pressure reducing valve converts high and fluctuating input pressure into a essentially constant output pressure (port A) according to a corresponding control current. This achieves pressure regulation from the high-pressure oil circuit (primary circuit) to the low-pressure oil circuit (secondary circuit) without affecting the higher pressure in the primary circuit.

The HAWE PM series miniature proportional pressure reducing valve controls other hydraulic components (e.g., directional valves) in hydraulic systems with variable control pressure and less oil flow. The secondary pressure at port A, which is related to current control, does not depend on the pump's output pressure; there is a linear relationship between the pressure at port A and the current input signal. Due to its function, any existing leakage must return to the tank without pressure through port R. This type of pressure reducing valve has an overload balancing function (acting as a pressure relief valve) when the secondary pressure exceeds the set value due to external forces.
