The Italian Eltra encoder determines its position by counting the number of pulses starting from the zero mark, while the position of an absolute encoder is determined by the reading of the output code. In one revolution, the output code reading for each position is constant; therefore, when the power is off, the absolute encoder does not separate from the actual position. If the power is restored, the position reading remains current and valid; unlike incremental encoders, it is not necessary to search for the zero mark.

Italy Eltra Photoelectric Encoder (Folded)
Advantages: Small size, high precision, inherently high resolution, non-contact and wear-free; the same model can detect both angular displacement and linear displacement with the assistance of a mechanical conversion device; multi-turn photoelectric absolute encoders can detect linear displacement over a considerable range (e.g., 25-bit multi-turn). Long lifespan, flexible installation, rich interface options, reasonable price. Mature technology, widely used domestically and internationally for many years.
Disadvantages: Precision but requires high protection in outdoor and harsh environments; linear displacement measurement relies on mechanical conversion, necessitating the elimination of errors caused by mechanical backlash; slippage is difficult to overcome when detecting objects moving on tracks.
Italy Eltra Static Magnetic Grating Absolute Encoder (Folded)
Advantages: Moderate size, direct measurement of linear displacement, absolute digital encoding, theoretically unlimited range; non-contact and wear-free, resistant to harsh environments, usable underwater up to 1000 meters; rich interface options, diverse measurement methods; acceptable price.
Disadvantages: Resolution of 1mm is not high; different types are required for measuring straight lines and angles; not suitable for displacement detection in small areas (greater than 260 mm).
Italy Eltra encoders have open collector (PNP, NPN) and push-pull types. TTL is a long-line differential drive (symmetrical A, A-; B, B-; Z, Z-), while HTL is also called push-pull or push-pull output. The encoder's signal receiving device interface should correspond to the encoder.
Signal Connections - Encoder pulse signals are typically connected to counters, PLCs, and computers. PLC and computer connection modules are available in low-speed and high-speed versions, with varying switching frequencies.
Single-phase connection is used for unidirectional counting and speed measurement.
A.B two-phase connection is used for forward and reverse counting, determining forward and reverse direction, and speed measurement.
A.B.Z three-phase connection is used for position measurement with reference correction.

For HTL encoders with symmetrical negative signal output, the signal transmission distance can reach 300 meters.
