The E+H ultrasonic level gauge is a microprocessor-controlled digital level instrument. During measurement, ultrasonic pulses are emitted by a sensor (transducer). The sound waves are reflected by the liquid surface and received by the same sensor, converted into electrical signals by a piezoelectric crystal, and the distance from the sensor to the measured liquid surface is calculated from the time between the emission and reception of the sound waves. Because it uses non-contact measurement, the measured medium is virtually unlimited, and it can be widely used for measuring the height of various liquids and solid materials.

E+H Ultrasonic Level Gauge Working Principle

The ultrasonic level gauge works by emitting high-frequency pulsed sound waves from an ultrasonic transducer (probe). These waves are reflected off the surface of the material being measured, and the reflected echoes are received by the transducer and converted into electrical signals. The propagation time of the sound wave is directly proportional to the distance from the emitted wave to the surface of the object. The relationship between the sound wave propagation distance S, the speed of sound C, and the sound propagation time T can be expressed by the formula: S = C × T / 2.

Because the emitted ultrasonic pulse has a certain width, reflected waves in a small area close to the transducer overlap with the emitted wave and cannot be identified, making it impossible to measure the distance. This area is called the measurement blind zone. The size of the blind zone depends on the model of the ultrasonic level gauge.

The probe emits ultrasonic waves. When these waves encounter a medium with a density significantly different from air, they are reflected. The reflected waves are then received by the probe. The distance from the probe to the liquid (object) surface is proportional to the time taken for the ultrasonic wave to travel:

Distance [m] = Time × Speed ​​of Sound / 2 [m]

The E+H ultrasonic level gauge works by emitting energy waves (usually pulse signals) through a device. These energy waves are reflected when they encounter obstacles, and the reflected signals are received by a receiving device. The change in liquid (object) level is determined by measuring the time difference in the energy wave's movement. Electronic devices process the microwave signals, ultimately converting them into electrical signals related to the liquid level. The probe emits an ultrasonic pulse signal to the surface of the measured medium. During transmission, the ultrasonic wave is reflected after encountering the measured medium (obstacle). The reflected ultrasonic signal is detected by an electronic module and processed by software. By analyzing the time difference between the emitted and echoed ultrasonic waves, combined with the speed of sound, the path traveled by the ultrasonic wave can be calculated, thus reflecting the liquid level.
