ATOS solenoid valves use a single solenoid coil to generate magnetic attraction that overcomes spring pressure, actuating the valve core. They are simple in structure, inexpensive, and only function as on/off valves.

ATOS electric valves use an electric motor to drive the valve stem, which in turn moves the valve core. Electric valves are further divided into shut-off valves and regulating valves. The shut-off valve operates in two positions, meaning it can be fully open or fully closed. The regulating valve, on the other hand, has an electric valve positioner installed on it, and uses closed-loop regulation to dynamically stabilize the valve in one position.

For example, the flow coefficient of a 25mm solenoid valve is generally much smaller than that of a 15mm electric ball valve.
