PARKER directional control valves from the USA are widely used in petroleum and chemical production, and are commonly used in synthetic ammonia gasification systems. In addition, directional control valves can also be made with a disc-type structure, which is often used in applications with smaller flow rates. During operation, simply turning the handwheel changes the direction of the working fluid via the disc.

PARKER Directional Control Valve Working Principle

PARKER Hydraulic-Cavity Electric Directional Control Valve Working Principle: The Parker D3W series 3-cavity electric directional control valve is a 3-cavity, electrically controlled, 3-position 4-way or 2-position 4-way spool valve, directly operated by a wet-type directional solenoid with a threaded armature.

Parker D3W Series 3-Cavity Electric Directional Control Valve

The Parker D3W series 3-cavity electric directional control valve is a 3-cavity, electrically controlled, 3-position 4-way or 2-position 4-way spool valve, directly operated by a wet-type directional solenoid with a threaded armature.

PARKER directional control valves are directional control valves with two or more flow patterns and two or more ports. They are valves used to achieve the connection, cut-off, and reversal of hydraulic oil flow, as well as pressure unloading and sequential action control. Directional control valves rely on the relative movement of the valve core and valve body. There are two types: rotary valves and spool valves. They are classified according to the number of working positions the valve core can occupy within the valve body, such as two-position and three-position valves; and according to the number of oil passages connected to the valve body, such as two-way, three-way, four-way, and six-way valves; the methods of operating the valve core include manual, motorized, electric, hydraulic, and electro-hydraulic types.

PARKER directional control valve classification:

(1) Motorized directional control valve, also known as a stroke valve.

(2) Electromagnetic directional control valve, which uses electromagnetic attraction to operate the valve core.

(3) Electro-hydraulic directional control valve, a composite valve composed of an electromagnetic directional control valve and a hydraulic directional control valve.

(4) Manual directional control valve, which uses a hand lever to operate the valve core.

PARKER directional control valves mainly consist of valve body, sealing components, cam, valve stem, handle, and valve cover (Figure 1). The valve is driven by a handle, which in turn rotates the valve stem and cam. The cam has the functions of positioning, driving, and locking the opening and closing of the sealing components. When the handle is rotated counterclockwise, the two sealing components close the two lower channels under the action of the cam, while the two upper channels are connected to the inlet of the pipeline device. Conversely, when the handle is rotated counterclockwise, the two upper channels are closed, and the two lower channels are connected to the inlet of the pipeline device, realizing non-stop reversal.

(1) The valve body of the six-way valve is divided into two chambers by a partition, each chamber having three channels: the middle one is the oil inlet, and the two ends are the oil outlets. The valve body is a welded carbon steel plate structure, small in size, light in weight, and compact in structure, which improves material utilization, shortens the production cycle, and reduces costs. The sealing surface is overlaid with stainless steel, which is rust-proof and corrosion-resistant. After precision machining, the sealing surface is polished and ground, with a surface roughness Ra≤0.8μm.

(2) The six-way valve has two sets of sealing components. Each sealing assembly (Figure 2) consists of a valve disc, sealing ring, adjusting block, adjusting screw, clamping plate, and bolts. The valve disc is a welded carbon steel plate with reinforcing ribs, which both increase the valve disc's strength and provide guidance, ensuring the coaxiality between each set of valve discs. A polyurethane rubber ring is embedded in the valve disc; this material is oil-resistant, wear-resistant, has stable performance, good sealing, and a long service life. Under the action of the cam, the spherical surface of the sealing ring contacts the valve body sealing surface, generating compressive elastic deformation to achieve a sealing effect. The adjusting block and adjusting screw can adjust the two sets of sealing assemblies when they cannot be in place synchronously, ensuring that the sealing performance of each channel is synchronized.

(3) The axial seal between the valve stem and the valve body partition and upper valve cover uses an O-ring.

(4) Copper sleeves are inlaid in the shaft holes of the valve body partition and upper valve cover to reduce the frictional torque between the valve and the O-ring, allowing the sealing assembly to open and close flexibly with low operating torque. (5) The upper valve cover is equipped with an indicator plate and limit screws, and a pointer is installed on the valve stem to clearly indicate the connection status of each channel, making operation easy.
