Features of Moog Piston Pumps

Moog piston pumps are an important component of hydraulic systems. They rely on the reciprocating motion of pistons within a cylinder to change the volume of the sealed working chamber, thus achieving oil suction and pressure.
The pistons in Moog piston pumps reciprocate within the cylinder, resulting in a large amount of motion and the need to withstand significant friction during operation. Therefore, the pistons require high hardness, wear resistance, long service life, and high precision. Research has shown that quenching heat treatment can meet the technical requirements of the pistons.
Quenching is a heat treatment process in which steel is heated to a temperature above the critical temperature Ac3 (hypoeutectoid steel) or Ac1 (hypereutectoid steel), held at that temperature for a period of time to achieve complete or partial austenitization, and then rapidly cooled at a rate greater than the critical cooling rate to below Ms (or isothermally near Ms) to induce martensitic (or bainitic) transformation. Quenching is widely used in modern machinery manufacturing. Almost all important mechanical parts, especially steel components used in automobiles, aircraft, and rockets, undergo quenching treatment.
