In the 1970s, MOOG entered the growing market for injection and blow molding process control technology. Due to the company's significant involvement in the US space program, it won a contract to supply hardware for the Space Shuttle. The Space Shuttle first flew in 1981, utilizing our pioneering fly-by-wire control technology.

In 1988, Robert T. Brady, president of MOOG's aircraft division, was appointed CEO. Sales reached $282 million in 1989. The company established operations in India in the mid-1990s. Our major acquisition was the purchase of Allied Signal's aircraft business in Torrance, California. By the end of 1999, company revenue exceeded $630 million.
In 2001, MOOG received a $50 million contract for the Space Shuttle refurbishment and moved from the American Stock Exchange to the New York Stock Exchange. We are the designer and supplier of flight control systems for Lockheed's F-35 fighter jet and a major supplier of flight control components for Boeing's 787 Dreamliner program.
In 2004, the company's revenue surpassed $900 million, and it completed another large-scale acquisition, acquiring Litton Poly-Scientific and renaming it MOOG Components Group. The company's annual sales exceeded $1 billion.
