MOOG servo valves are mainly used as actuators in electro-hydraulic servo systems (see Hydraulic Servo Systems). In servo systems, hydraulic actuators, compared to electric and pneumatic actuators, have advantages such as faster response, higher power output per unit weight, smoother transmission, and stronger anti-interference capabilities. On the other hand, electrical components are often used for signal transmission and characteristic correction in servo systems. Therefore, modern high-performance servo systems also adopt electro-hydraulic methods, and servo valves are essential components of such systems.
MOOG servo valves mainly refer to electro-hydraulic servo valves, which, after receiving electrical analog signals, output modulated flow and pressure accordingly. They are both electro-hydraulic conversion elements and power amplification elements, capable of converting low-power, weak electrical input signals into high-power hydraulic energy (flow and pressure) output.
Founded over fifty years ago, MOOG Corporation initially designed and supplied aircraft and components. Today, its motion control technology is widely used in numerous markets and applications, including commercial aircraft cockpits, wind turbines, Formula One racing, and medical infusion systems, effectively improving the performance of related products. The company's history originates from its founder, William C. Moogle, an inventor, entrepreneur, and visionary. In 1951, Bill Moogle developed the electro-hydraulic servo valve, a device that converts weak electrical pulses into precise and powerful motion. In July 1951, Bill Moogle, the Art brothers, and Lugheye rented a corner of the abandoned Proner Airport in East Aurora, New York, and founded the MOOG Valve Company.
MooG Corporation is a global designer, manufacturer, and integrator of precision motion control products and systems. Moogle's high-performance systems control commercial aircraft, satellites and spacecraft, launch vehicles, industrial machinery, wind power, marine applications, and medical equipment.
