ST5484E-121-010-00 Distinguishing the Quality of Metrix Transmitters: With the marketization of production materials, competition has intensified, making it difficult to distinguish genuine from counterfeit transmitters (Figure 3) of varying quality. Furthermore, because transmitter technology is a relatively unrelated field, many engineering designers are unfamiliar with it. Some manufacturers confuse industrial-grade with civilian/commercial-grade specifications (industrial-grade transmitters are 2-3 times more expensive than civilian/commercial-grade ones). Taking a commonly used 0.5-grade accuracy current/voltage transmitter as an example, the following methods can be used to distinguish genuine from counterfeit transmitters and assess their quality:

Transmitter
A transmitter is a converter that transforms the output signal of a sensor into a signal that can be recognized by a controller (or converts a non-electrical quantity input from a sensor into an electrical signal and amplifies it for remote measurement and control). Sensors and transmitters together constitute the monitoring signal source for automatic control. Different physical quantities require different sensors and corresponding transmitters. There are many types of transmitters; those used in industrial control instruments mainly include temperature transmitters, pressure transmitters, flow transmitters, current transmitters, voltage transmitters, etc.

Transmitter
A sensor used in industrial fields that can output a standard signal is called a transmitter. The term transmitter (Figure 1) is sometimes used interchangeably with sensor.
In the principles of automatic control, a transmitter is a converter that transforms the output signal of a sensor into a signal that can be recognized by a controller. The reason it is sometimes used interchangeably with sensors is because the output signals of most modern sensors are already signals that can be received by common controllers, allowing the controller to recognize the signal directly without the transmitter's conversion. Therefore, the traditional meaning of "transmitter" should be: "an instrument that converts the output signal of a sensor into a standard signal that can be accepted by a controller or measuring instrument." In automatic control: Signal source --> Sensor --> Transmitter --> Logic Controller --> Actuator --> Control Output.
There are many types of transmitters, but generally speaking, a transmitter sends a signal to a secondary instrument to display measurement data.
It is a device that converts physical measurement signals or ordinary electrical signals into standard electrical signals for output or output via communication protocols. Common types include: temperature/humidity transmitters, pressure transmitters, differential pressure transmitters, level transmitters, current transmitters, power transmitters, flow transmitters, and weight transmitters.

Metrix
Founded in 1965 and located in Houston, USA, Metrix is a leading manufacturer of 4-20mA vibration transmitters, greatly simplifying vibration monitoring and reducing costs. Our products and services include eddy current systems, transmitters, switches, monitors, portable displays, and global technical services, including machine diagnostics, commissioning, balancing, and troubleshooting. Our vibration monitoring products are used in gas turbines, motors, compressors, pumps, generators, gearboxes, paper machinery, and cooling towers. Metrix's product line is suitable for a wide range of industries, including air separation, chemical, oil and gas, pipeline, power generation, water/wastewater treatment, and more. Non-contact eddy current sensors are mainly used to measure shaft vibration, axial displacement, eccentricity, expansion difference, key phase, and zero speed. Speed and acceleration sensors are mainly used to measure bearing vibration, etc. Commonly stocked Metrix transmitter models:
