When selecting a MAC solenoid valve, the four principles should be safety, reliability, applicability, and economy in that order. Secondly, the selection should be based on six aspects of the on-site working conditions (i.e., pipeline parameters, fluid parameters, pressure parameters, electrical parameters, actuation method, and special requirements).

About MAC Valves Inc. (USA):

MAC Valves was founded in January 1948 as Mechanical Air Control, with a capital of US$2,000. In 1962, the company name was changed to MAC Valves Inc.

Starting in 1964, MAC implemented an 18-month unconditional quality guarantee policy for all its products, printing this guarantee on its brochures and distributing them worldwide to emphasize the quality of MAC products. To date, no other manufacturer prints an 18-month quality guarantee on its brochures.

In 1971, MAC Valves Europe was established in Belgium, a branch of MAC Valves Inc. In 1971, the Japanese government approved a manufacturing contract between MAC and SMC, under which MAC transferred technology to SMC and authorized SMC to produce solenoid valves in Japan. SMC also became MAC's agent in the Asia-Pacific region. SMC was previously a filter manufacturer.

By 1972, MAC had sold one million valves; five years later, sales had doubled, exceeding two million by 1977.

MAC solenoid valves currently hold a 26% market share in the United States. 45% of its customers are in packaging machinery, with the remainder in sorting machinery, tire machinery, mining, automotive, electronics, aluminum, timber, paper, printing, food, and beverage industries.

Selection Criteria:

1. Selecting the solenoid valve based on pipeline parameters: Nominal diameter (DN), connection type

1) Determine the nominal diameter (DN) based on the inner diameter of the pipeline or flow requirements on site;

2) Connection type: Generally, for DN >50, a flange connection should be selected; for DN ≤50, the connection type can be freely selected according to user needs.

2. Selecting the solenoid valve based on fluid parameters: Material, temperature group

1) Corrosive fluids: Corrosion-resistant solenoid valves and all-stainless steel are recommended; Ultra-clean edible fluids: Food-grade stainless steel solenoid valves are recommended;

2) High-temperature fluids: Solenoid valves made with high-temperature resistant electrical and sealing materials should be selected, and piston-type valves should be chosen;

3) Fluid state: Generally, gaseous, liquid, or mixed states are possible, especially for diameters greater than DN25, which must be clearly distinguished;

4) Fluid viscosity: Generally, any choice is possible below 50 cSt; if it exceeds this value, a high-viscosity solenoid valve should be selected. 3. Selecting Solenoid Valves Based on Pressure Parameters: Principle and Structural Types

1) Nominal Pressure: This parameter has the same meaning as other general-purpose valves, determined by the nominal pressure of the pipeline.

2) Working Pressure: If the working pressure is low, a direct-acting or step-direct-acting principle must be selected. For working pressure differentials above 0.04 MPa, direct-acting, step-direct-acting, and pilot-operated valves can all be selected.

4. Electrical Selection: For voltage specifications, AC220V or DC24V should be prioritized for convenience. 5. Select based on continuous working time: normally closed, normally open, or continuously energized.

MAC solenoid valve main features:

1. Balanced valve design, response time unaffected by pressure changes;

2. Anti-jamming protection design for the valve core, preventing coil burnout;

3. Strong coil suction, ensuring fast and precise action;

4. Automatic wear compensation, extending valve lifespan;

5. Air isolation for the coil, extending coil lifespan;

6. Available in various sizes, M5-2 1/2" standard;

7. 18-month warranty.
