When the mating surfaces of Italian Camozzi cylinders are eroded or corroded by steam, grooves are filled in using appropriate welding rods. Marks are then made using a flat plate or straightedge, ensuring the weld bead and mating surface are on the same plane. If the cylinder mating surfaces are significantly deformed or leaking steam, one or two 10-20mm wide sealing strips are welded onto the mating surface of the lower cylinder to eliminate gaps. Then, a straightedge or the cylinder itself is used to measure the surface, and red lead is applied and scraped until the gaps are eliminated. This process is also simple: preheat the cylinder to 150°C before welding, then perform segmented back-welding or skip welding at room temperature.

A CAMOZZI cylinder is the track for piston movement. Combustion and expansion occur within it, and some of the residual heat from the combustion is dissipated through the cylinder wall, maintaining the engine's normal operating temperature. Cylinders come in two types: integral and single-cast. Single-cast cylinders are further divided into dry and wet types. When the cylinder and cylinder block are cast as a single unit, it is called an integral cylinder; when the cylinder and cylinder block are cast separately, the single-cast cylinder barrel is called a cylinder liner. Cylinder liners that are in direct contact with cooling water are called wet cylinder liners; those that are not in direct contact with cooling water are called dry cylinder liners. To maintain a tight seal between the cylinder and piston and reduce frictional losses during piston movement, the cylinder inner wall should have high machining precision and accurate dimensions.
Camozzi Cylinder Causes
Internal and external leakage in Camozzi cylinders is generally caused by factors such as piston rod misalignment, insufficient lubrication, worn or damaged seals and sealing rings, impurities inside the cylinder, and scratches on the piston rod. Therefore, when internal or external leakage occurs, the piston rod center should be readjusted to ensure coaxiality between the piston rod and cylinder; the oil mist lubricator should be checked regularly to ensure proper lubrication of the actuator; worn or damaged seals and sealing rings should be replaced promptly; impurities inside the cylinder should be removed; and scratches on the piston rod should be addressed by replacing it.
Insufficient output force and unstable operation in Camozzi cylinders are generally caused by piston or piston rod jamming, poor lubrication, insufficient air supply, or condensate and impurities inside the cylinder. To address this, the piston rod center should be adjusted; the oil mist lubricator should be checked for reliability; and the air supply line should be checked for blockages. Condensate and impurities inside the cylinder should be removed promptly.
Poor cushioning in Camozzi cylinders is generally caused by worn cushioning seals or damaged adjusting screws. In this case, the seals and adjusting screws should be replaced.
Damage to the piston rod and cylinder head of Camozzi cylinders is generally caused by misalignment of the piston rod during installation or a malfunctioning cushioning mechanism. In this case, the center position of the piston rod should be adjusted; the cushioning seals or adjusting screws should be replaced.
