When there is a large area of steam leakage at the mating surface of an Italian Camozzi cylinder, with a gap of approximately 0.50mm, a coating process can be used to reduce the amount of scraping work. Using the cylinder as the anode and the coating tool as the cathode, an electrolytic solution is repeatedly applied to the cylinder's mating surface. The thickness of the coating depends on the size of the gap between the cylinder mating surfaces, and the type of coating depends on the cylinder material and the scraping process. Spraying involves using a specialized high-temperature flame torch to heat metal powder to a molten or plastic state before spraying it onto the treated cylinder surface to form a coating with the desired properties.

Camozzi cylinders are the cavities where the piston is housed. They are the tracks for piston movement, where combustion gases burn and expand. Some of the residual heat from the combustion gases is dissipated through the cylinder walls, maintaining the engine's normal operating temperature. Cylinders come in two types: integral and single-cast. Single-cast cylinders are further divided into dry and wet types. When the cylinder and cylinder block are cast as a single unit, it is called an integral cylinder; when the cylinder and cylinder block are cast separately, the single-cast cylinder barrel is called a cylinder liner. Cylinder liners that are in direct contact with cooling water are called wet cylinder liners; those that are not in direct contact with cooling water are called dry cylinder liners. To maintain tight contact between the cylinder and piston and reduce frictional losses during piston movement, the cylinder inner wall requires high machining precision and accurate dimensions.
Camozzi Cylinder Structure
A Camozzi cylinder consists of a cylinder barrel, end caps, piston, piston rod, and seals. Its internal structure is shown in the figure:
1) Cylinder Barrel
The inner diameter of the cylinder barrel determines the output force. For the piston to slide smoothly back and forth within the cylinder barrel, the surface roughness of the inner surface should reach Ra0.8μm.
The CM2 cylinder piston uses a combination sealing ring for bidirectional sealing. The piston and piston rod are riveted together, eliminating the need for nuts.
2) End Caps
The end caps have inlet and outlet ports, and some also include a buffer mechanism. The rod-side end caps have sealing rings and dustproof rings to prevent air leakage from the piston rod and to prevent external dust from entering the cylinder. A guide sleeve is provided on the piston rod end cap to improve the cylinder's guiding accuracy, bear a small amount of lateral load on the piston rod, reduce the downward bending of the piston rod when it extends, and extend the cylinder's service life. The guide sleeve is usually made of sintered oil-impregnated alloy or forward-inclined copper casting. End caps were previously commonly made of malleable cast iron; to reduce weight and prevent rust, aluminum alloy die casting is commonly used, and brass is sometimes used in miniature cylinders.
3) Piston
The piston is the pressure-bearing part in the cylinder. A piston seal ring is provided to prevent air leakage between the left and right chambers of the piston. Wear rings on the piston improve the cylinder's guiding performance, reduce wear on the piston seal ring, and reduce frictional resistance. Wear rings are often made of polyurethane, polytetrafluoroethylene, or fabric-reinforced synthetic resin. The width of the piston is determined by the size of the seal ring and the necessary length of the sliding part. A sliding part that is too short can easily cause premature wear and jamming. Pistons are commonly made of aluminum alloy and cast iron; small cylinder pistons are sometimes made of brass.
4) Piston Rod
The piston rod is the most important force-bearing part in the cylinder. High-carbon steel with hard chrome plating or stainless steel are typically used to prevent corrosion and improve the wear resistance of the sealing rings.
5) Sealing Rings
The sealing of components in rotating or reciprocating motion is called dynamic sealing, while the sealing of stationary parts is called static sealing.
The main connection methods between the cylinder barrel and the end cover are as follows:
Integral type, riveted type, threaded connection type, flange type, and tie rod type.
6) During cylinder operation, the piston is lubricated by oil mist in compressed air. A small number of cylinders are lubrication-free.

Camozzi History
It was in 1964 that three brothers, Attilio, Luigi, and Geromino, began manufacturing industrial automation components in Lumezzañe, a small village in the Lombardy region of northern Italy.
Today, the Camozzi family continues its history with respect for tradition. Their values and principles are the most important legacy guiding their descendants.
Over 40 years of commitment, dedication, and passion have built a solid foundation for future development and innovation. The Camozzi story has never lacked passion.
A branch was established in Germany in 1980, and 21 branch offices and workshops have been established worldwide.
